Martin Velez
Martin Velez has been a member of the California State Bar since December 1993. In 2007, Mr. Velez established his own practice, representing employees in workplace disputes throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Mr. Velez began his career practicing criminal law, serving as a deputy district attorney for the Santa Cruz County District Attorney's Office and as a deputy public defender for the Sonoma County Public Defender's Office. Thereafter, he worked for two civil litigation defense firms, defending Fortune 500 corporations, public entities, insurance carriers, and small businesses in employment disputes, civil rights claims, wrongful death actions, and business disagreements. Mr. Velez has tried cases in state and federal court and has argued before the California Courts of Appeal on several occasions.
Mr. Velez received his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in May 1993. At Iowa, Mr. Velez earned membership on the Iowa Law Review and the Moot Court Board. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics in May 1986. Mr. Velez is admitted to practice before all courts of the State of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, and Central Districts of California.
When he is not fighting for his clients, Mr. Velez enjoys watching the Golden State Warriors, listening to podcasts about the Golden State Warriors, reading Hoopshype about the Golden State Warriors, and following the California Golden Bears in the Pac 12/10/8 (or whatever they are going to call it).
